A core value of the MOSAIC and LGBTQ+ Resource Center is ongoing education. We foster an environment for curiosity, collaboration, and diversity of thought to aid the lifelong liberatory learning and unlearning process. In alignment with the UCCS core value of inclusive diversity, we help strengthen the community's skillset and knowledge around diversity, inclusion, access, and equity.

Intro to the MOSAIC and LGBTQ+ Resource Center Presentation

The intro to the MOSAIC and LGBTQ+ Resource Center presentation is designed for participants to learn more about the history, events, programs, and services available to students through the MOSAIC and LGBTQ+ Resource Center. 

Audience: UCCS students

Time: Varies from 15 - 30 minutes

Safe Zone Training

Our Safe Zone program is designed to educate UCCS students, faculty, and staff about the experiences of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer+ communities and ways that they can support them through allyship and ongoing advocacy. Navigating one’s sexual orientation and/or gender identity can be a range of emotions on the spectrum from scary to exciting. These experiences can sometimes intensify during a student’s formative college years. Students, newly out and/or new to campus, may not know where to go for resources or support. It is our responsibility as a community that strives for inclusive diversity to equip everyone with the knowledge and skills to contribute to a healthy campus climate.

Inclusive Excellence Workshop

The MOSAIC and LGBTQ+ Resource Center aims to exemplify and teach active, intentional, and ongoing engagement with diversity to equip the community with sustainable best practices and tools for empathetic advocacy. This interactive workshop strengthens participants ability to interact more inclusively with those from different cultures, experiences, and identities, while also providing tools for participants to reflect on how their personal actions and decisions impact others.

Audience: UCCS students, staff, and faculty members. 

Time: 90 minutes

Undocupeer Workshop

The Undocupeer workshop is designed to increase knowledge to better support undocumented, DACA, ASSET, and students from mixed-status families. During this two-hour workshop participants will learn more about relevant vocabulary, barriers impacting this population, engage in scenarios to practice their allyship and advocacy, and gain more awareness about available resources on campus and in the Colorado Springs community. 

Audience: UCCS students, staff, and faculty members.

Time: 120 minutes

Pronouns 101 Workshop

The pronouns 101 workshop is a brief introduction into what gendered pronouns are, how to use them and how to be respectful of other peoples' pronouns. Participants will also learn how to update pronouns in the University of Colorado Colorado Springs system.

Value of Diversity Presentation

The value of diversity presentation is designed for participants to better understand the UCCS value of inclusive diversity, develop awareness on actions that create an inclusive environment, and understand how each of us contributes to UCCS' overall diversity.

Audience: UCCS students

Time: Varies from 30 - 60 minutes

Queering Relationships Workshop

Aromantic and asexual people often find that they “pick and choose” aspects of the significant relationships that they form. Developed by members of The Ace and Aro Advocacy Project (TAAAP) for Creating Change 2019, this presentation reviews how aromantic and asexual people approach relationships and how all people can use these approaches to form fulfilling relationships without being tied to existing relationship models. This will help present new, practical approaches to consent and the gender and financial dynamics that are a part of any relationship.

Audience: UCCS students

UndocuVideo Dialogue

Develop your awareness and understanding of undocumented communities with a viewing and guided discussion of a film/video series. This is a great way for the UCCS community to learn more about ways to advocate for and with our undocumented community.

"What is Allyship?" Presentation

Allyship is a practice you can strengthen every day! This presentation will discuss the allyship awareness journey, build on the progression from allyship to advocacy, and encourage participants to develop an allyship action plan.

Creating a Culture of Care: Practicing Micro Affirmations

This workshop focuses on skill building and knowledge development on recognizing and interrupting microaggressions. Participants will engage in personal reflection, collaborate on scenarios, and deepen their practice of creating a culture of care through micro affirmations.
